I bought this mainly because sometimes the power will just go out for a second or a few minutes. I have my tower, LCD monitor, wireless router, modem, and a cordless phone connected to it. Works great so far, definitely recommended if you need it for similar needs.
I live in an area where 1 minute blackouts are not uncommon, so I was searching for something that would protect my investment.This unit does it's job effectively for people that need something that will prevent everyday surges and improper shutdowns due to power loss. You will never know it's there aside from the tray icon(unless of course you have a power-outage). I have it supporting mainly a 2001 Dell PC with Windows XP Home and have never had any problems in 2 years of ownership, but it has saved my PC many times from abnormal shutdowns.Setup is simple - just plug it in, install the software, and connect to a USB port. The software is a monitoring program that will enable your PC to react appropriately to power conditions. I noticed no change in performance of my PC once it was installed.If you need something that will give you a significant amount of usage time when the power goes out, you should probably go for a more expensive option - but for my purposes - something that will protect my PC from occasional blackouts - this does very admirably. 5 stars.
I bought 2 of these a while back in Oct. Now it seems hard to get one for that price. 2007 directly through amazon and it was much cheaper then. I paid less than eighty bucks for two. They seem to be working fine. You can recycle them directly with APC when the battery does go bad.
The product works excellent. The seller was great but using Fedex for shipping, was very bad, it took an extremely long time to be delivered and everyday when I looked at the Fedex site the delivery date changed.Over all it was good.
I'm much more comfortable leaving my computer on or in sleep / hibernate mode, now that I know it won't be shut down prematurely.Get one for every computer that you want to leave on. I don't know why I took so long to buy one of these. Well worth the peace of mind.BTW. This backup is a true requirement for anyone with a computer. This B/U pack saved my computer from numerous power failures and with the USB cable attached, I have my computer settings to automatically shut down the computer after a minute on battery power. Don't let it overheat. It will malfunction at temperatures over 85 Degrees Fahrenheit, but then you could damage your computer in the same environment.
